As Coldplay embarks on its World Tour, hitting the vibrant streets of Asia, it seems like everyone, and their pet goat wants to attend these concerts! Seriously, if you don’t have a ticket, you might as well be trying to find a needle in a haystack. People are ready to trade their favorite snacks, their Wi-Fi passwords, and even that embarrassing childhood diary just to catch a glimpse of Chris Martin singing “I will try to fix you”. It is like a karaoke night but with way more glitter and a few tens of thousands of extra folks than your usual buddies.
When we miraculously landed two coveted tickets during their visit to Hong Kong, I had a revelation: my son was going to be my plus-one. Now, my husband didn’t even bother to fight for a spot at the concert. But for my little guy, this was going to be a once-in-a-lifetime type of experience!
Of course, the thought of attending a crowded stadium filled with loud music and some drunk underage millennials was enough to make my anxiety levels rival that of a cat in a room full of rocking chairs. But I decided to channel my inner superhero, don my imaginary cape, and transform into a resilient force. Ready to tackle any challenges that arose and enjoy this experience with my little guy by my side. And the concert of course did not disappoint seeing him jump for joy every time a favorite song came on was sheer delight!

Before I delve into why I believe it is a wonderful experience for even children I do want to preface by emphasizing the important of choosing the kind of music and bands you would allow your children to be exposed to. For me personally Coldplay is a great choice as the songs and lyrics are inspiring, there is nothing inappropriate about the messaging of their music. The concert was lively and positive unlike some of the other disturbing, ritualistic and dark concerts the internet is abuzz about.
Now, moving on to why I thought that this was a great idea to bring along your children for a music concert:
Witness the brilliance of extraordinary talent
There is something about musical geniuses who have dedicated years to honing their craft. With each note they play, they weave a tapestry of sound that captivates the hearts and souls of tens of thousands of people in a stadium. These artists pour their passion and creativity into every performance, transforming the stage into a realm of pure emotion and connection. Their ability to let out tune after tune not only showcases their immense talent but also serves as a reminder that with dedication and perseverance, we can all reach heights we once thought impossible.
For the little minds of children, having examples showcasing human excellence whether it be in music, architecture or science is essential in driving their own imagination and allowing their hearts to inculcate a dream or two of their own.
The Power of Performance
As the crowd roars and the lights dance, we witness a powerful exchange between artist and audience—a shared experience that transcends words. Each performance is a culmination of the countless hours of practice, the unwavering commitment to art, and the courage to express oneself. In these moments, we are reminded that music has the extraordinary ability to unite us, inspire us, and elevate our spirits.
Personally, it was a delight to witness Chris Martin engaging a crowd of nearly fifty thousand individuals. The way so many people willingly dedicated their time, loyalty, and affection to someone who shares their talent and spreads joy is a remarkable testament to the power of love, courage, and dedication.

Sense of Organization
I can’t speak for all other parents out there but for me personally allowing my child to navigate in a large gathering under my watchful gaze was ideal. We both shared a sense of confidence and achievement after it was all over. My little guy kept looking over his shoulder to ensure I was right behind him, reading signposts and even asking people for direction; all of which I might add are valuable habits to hold on to for life. After all, we all need to ask for directions sometimes, and facing uncomfortable or unfamiliar situations is part of growing up. So why not start when your parents can observe and even see you make a few mistakes? In the end, you both learn something new.
Igniting Your Own Passion
Let the brilliance of these musical icons ignite your own passion. Irrespective of the path one wishes to undertake we are inspired to embrace the challenges, cherish the growth, and believe in the magic of your own potential. For within each of us lies the ability to create, inspire, and leave a lasting impact on the world. So, let the melodies of your heart guide you, and may you find the courage to share your unique gift with the universe.
So the next time you come across a musical performance in town, take your little ones with you. Don’t let a few glances hold you back; it’s worth being that slightly uncool parent who has their kids attached to their side every now and then.
